There is a legend from the 19th century that one day Truth and Lie met. Says Lie to Truth: "It's such a beautiful day." And it was indeed a very beautiful day. They spend some time together until they come to a well. "The water is so nice, why don't we both take a shower?" suggests Lie. Truth, though reticent, touches the water there and the water was really nice. They then undress and bathe. Suddenly Lie comes out of the water, puts on the clothes of Truth and runs away. Truth jumps out of the well and runs everywhere to find Lie and retrieve her robes. The World, seeing itself confronted with the nakedness of Truth, rolls its eyes, with contempt and anger. Truth then returns to the well where it disappears forever, hiding its shame.
Since then Lie has roamed the World in the clothes of Truth, satisfying the whims of people and societies, and the World continues to refuse to face Truth naked.
